A basic thermocouple measurement system requires two sensors, one for the environment under measurement and the other, a reference junction, normally held to 0 deg. C (32 deg. F). Type-T is one of the dozen or more common thermocouples frequently used in general-purpose temperature measuring applications. It is made of copper and constantan metals and typically operates from -270 to +400’C or -454 to +752 degrees F.
Reference temperature; Measured environmental temperature. Open to measure voltage; Digital Voltmeter output proportional to the difference betweem T1 and T2.
