Modicon product production continues under Telemecanique brand

Many questions have arisen regarding the future of the Modicon® brand as a part of Schneider Electric's Telemecanique global promotion. Be assured that Schneider Electric is continuing to manufacture Modicon PLCs as you have known them for years. A key offering within the Telemecanique brand, these products - including Quantum™, Momentum™ and Premium™ PLCs - will be marketed under the Modicon product name.

The Telemecanique brand also encompasses several automation and control product families that are familiar to you: Magelis® HMI hardware, Altivar® and Altistart® drives and soft starters, control software (i.e., Concept™, ProWORX™ and Unity™), networking and communications (i.e., Modbus® and ConneXium™), and motor control products.

I'm working for Schneider in the PLC branch and I would like to give some comments to your info.

In fact the Modicon Company (which wer ebelonging to the german company AEG) has been acquired by Schneider more than 10 years ago now. Modicon PLCs and telemecanique PLCs had their own parallel (or facing it depends) life for some years.

What is new now is that all PLCs from Schneider Telemecanique will be under the Modicon name (even the former Telemecanique one). That's why the modicon.com has been merged with the Telemecanique.com website.

Thx for your comments.

I briefly worked with Modicon, in the mid 1990s, while I was an eng. student. Did it not (at one time) be a part of Siemens?
