In recent years the amount of machinery manufactured outside of the United States has substantially increased. It's now possible to have a mixture of U.S.- and foreign-made parts on the same machine. Much of this has occurred because multinational companies have purchased smaller companies worldwide that make a variety of parts and sensors, and the equipment builders will tend to use parts from their subsidiaries when assembling machinery.

The color code for foreign-made thermocouples is shown in Fig. 1 below (large image). It should be noted that foreign-made thermocouples use a color code for the jacket material that surrounds the thermocouple as well as a color code for the individual wires.

Non-U.S. thermocouples use a color code for the jacket material that surrounds the thermocouple as well as a color code for the individual wires.
